I finally got a response from the ministry of training today. They said that every post secondary institute of technology is it's own autonomous corporation, founded under some act... they cited the act, I don't immediately recall it.
Because of this, they said, it would be inappropriate for the ministry to interfere with the operations of the college, especially on matters like mine.
The upside to all this is that they gave me information on who I CAN contact about matters like this... the board of directors.
It's funny to me though, that I had to send a message to the Ombudsman of Ontario (http://www.ombudsman.on.ca) about the issue to spur a response from them. Seems I'll have to write a creative letter to the Board, informing them of the gross misconduct of their administration.
I take it that from this reaction, the Ministry is washing their hands of the potential wrong-doing of the administration at Mohawk. Additionally, since that's the case, I'll probably hit a dead-end here if the board rejects my information, does nothing about it, or ignores me completely.
I would presume that after that, only a strong outcry from the public would change anything, and for that to happen, I would need a lot more coverage than just this blog.
