A violation of the rules? do nothing!

I received word today about a response from a (very small) internal review of the appeal, wherein they basically recognized that there was a TECHNICAL violation of the policy's procedure, but stated that there is no appeal of the appeal process, and therefore nothing would be done.

I'm sorry if this seems callused, but, when someone ADMITS there's a violation of procedure, and does nothing, does this not paint the image that they are above reproach? That despite violating the rules that govern us, they're ALLOWED to do it?

I'm not sure about any of you, but I would believe that when a rule is broken, something needs to be done, and if nothing is done, and the problem is still recognized, then the rule is no more than a guideline or a suggestion. If the "rules" are nothing more than a guideline or suggestion, doesn't that put us into a totalitarian dictatorship? or is it anarchy? I guess that depends one what's going on. In this situation, looks more like a dictatorship to me.
